Steve Jobs produce great work because he had a rival like Bill Gates.
They both had the fire to outdo the other. This rivalry eventually benefitted the world, and ordinary people like us operate windows computers without technical knowledge.
Thomas Edison hired Tesla in his New York office in 1884. But soon, Tesla left the job as he wasn’t given a bonus as promised.
Edison’s use of Direct current to carry electricity to consumers was a monopoly. But Tesla invented a new method using alternating current that transmits enormous amounts of power over long distances.
This rivalry leads to great inventions.
Having a rival is useful for anyone as it pushes one to produce new ideas continuously. It will challenge your ability to create more every day.
When you don’t have the motivation, your rival’s success ignites a spark within you. So you don’t need any encouragement when you have an opponent.
So rival can bring out the best creative person from you. It all depends on how you take the competition.
If your rival criticizes your work in public, then try to improve yourself. Answer your opponents through your work and by mere words.
